About me
I believe that the functionality of any hand made object is in its beauty.
Ceramics for me is a unique art, complicated in its technology, advanced in the process of interaction with the materials and borderless in its expressive ability. I have a perfect tool to express my understanding of beauty, whether it’s a simple coffee mug or an abstract sculpture, the only purpose of which is to give joy!
My love for ceramics began when I was a chill. Observing porcelain miniatures at my grandmother’s home I was intrigued by the clean lines and fine beauty of the pieces. I questioned how it was made. Much later in my life I gave up my business career and turned my attention to clay. I still find making ceramics being a very fulfilling and rewarding process. I own one of the largest ceramic studios in Moscow, where I work myself and teach kids and adults how to make ceramics.
Having started as a functional potter, my work recently shifted towards large sculptural forms, which I exhibit nationally and internationally. Most of my sculptural work is inspired by natural forms and the processes that occur in the universe. I am experimenting with different clays and firings, and I try to follow the clay in its natural manifestation.
